Generic Name: Ferrous Sulphate BP & Folic Acid BP

Composition: Each timed release capsule contains Ferrous Sulphate BP 150 mg & Folic Acid BP 500 mcg.

Presentation: Each box contains 10×10’s capsules in blister strip.

Indication: This capsule is a haematinic preparation for the treatment and prophylaxis of iron               and folic acid deficiency, especially during pregnancy and lactation.

Description: This is a capsule preparation of ferrous sulfate (in timed release form) and folic acid. This timed release capsule is designed in such a way that it prevents release of iron in stomach and thus prevents gastric side effects. This capsule ensures maximum absorption of iron by releasing it at the site of its absorption.

 

Therapeutic Class: Iron & Vitamin Combined preparations.

Dosage & Administration: 1 (one) capsule a day, throughout pregnancy and lactation. Some patients may need a higher dose because of dietary or other factors.  This should be administered only as per registered physician’s prescription.

Interaction: The absorption of both iron salts and tetracyclines is diminished when they are taken concomitantly by mouth. The absorption of iron salts may also be decreased by magnesium trisilicate-containing antacid.

Contraindication: Contraindicated in patients receiving repeated blood transfusions or in patients with anaemias not produced by iron deficiency unless iron deficiency is also present.

Side Effects: Because iron salts are astringent, gastrointestinal irritation may occur. Nausea and epigastric pain are dose related.

Storage Condition: Do not store above 25°C temperature, keep away from light and wet place. Keep out of reach of children.
